The number of threads used on modern vehicles is between 5,000 – 10,000. Threads keep every vehicle together and allow the vehicle to bring the power of the engine or engines via the tires on the road. Most threads on vehicles experience dynamic loads and therefore should never be approached with any tool that removes material. Silbertool® thread repair tools do not remove material but form the entire material back into its original geometry without compromising in dynamic or static durability of the thread.
For the automotive industry, we have developed specialized thread repair tools for axles, wheel studs, steering rods, suspensions, bodywork, and many other applications. Many Silbertool® Thread Savers were developed in cooperation with the OEMs to make the repair easier and cheaper and most of all safer. What took hours to repair and occasionally days of downtime can now be repaired within seconds.

I had the idea of a hand tool for forming threads in 2009 while working as a researcher in the Institute of metal forming and metal forming machines. I then started my own company to develop the technology not only for rolling new threads but for a much bigger market: Thread repair and thread optimization.
This was a start into a much bigger business with globally active customers and also the beginning of joining up with new partners to be able to scale the production. Currently the production of our standard tools involves about 20 people in total. Special solutions and service are another growing business sector.
