Restore the thread, not the whole structure.
Road authorities, municipalities and utilities look after hardware that stands outdoors for decades: sign gantries, lighting columns and signal masts, crash barriers and bridge fittings, hydrants, valve spindles and sluice gates, access covers and pipe flanges. Weather, road salt and age seize and deform the threads holding it together, and the work has to happen where the asset stands.

Most of this hardware cannot be taken to a workshop, and some of it cannot be replaced without civil work. An anchor bolt cast into a foundation is held by the structure around it, so one damaged thread turns a routine maintenance visit into an excavation.
Cold forming suits this work. Threads are restored in place by displacing material back toward the original profile rather than cutting away what is left of it. Whether a thread is recoverable depends on its condition and material, so it stays a judgement made at the asset.
Work happens on site
The tooling is hand-operated and portable, so a thread is recovered at the column, the hydrant or the chamber. No workshop visit, no power supply, and no lifting a structure out of the ground to deal with one fastener.
Corrosion, not wear
Outdoor hardware fails by corrosion long before it wears out. Seized and rusted fasteners can be freed and their threads re-formed without damaging the shaft, housings or seals around them.
Structural diameters
Public assets run big. Forming scales to the large external threads on anchor bolts, spindles and flange fasteners, and where an asset sits outside the standard range, tooling and process are prepared for it.
Before you excavate or replace, check the thread.
